We are delighted to announce that Susan Calman will be our host at the Star Awards Gala Dinner in Glasgow on June 8.
Glasgow-born comic Calman used to be a corporate lawyer but in 2006 she decided to give it all up to be a comedian. She reached the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards and ‘So You Think You’re Funny’, was a finalist in the prestigious ‘Funny Women’ competition in 2006 and she hasn’t stopped since.
Susan is a regular on Have I Got News for You, QI (which she won), Don’t Sit In The Front Row, Comedy Rocks, Show and Tell, The Matt Lucas Awards, Dara O’Briain’s School of Hard Sums, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie To You and Comedy at the Fringe. We’re delighted and excited to have her host our 2017 Awards.
The venue for this year is the fantastic SWG3. A brand new club, music hall and arts centre in Glasgow's West End. Extensive, open plan spaces are a blank canvas with cement walls, ceilings and pillars and exposed ventilation. The warehouse acts as a studio and gallery space to artists, poets and performers.
