STAR AWARDS 2021 | A VIRTUAL CELEBRATION

The 2021 Awards Ceremony will be streamed live from Edinburgh on Thursday June 17.
After the excellent feedback we received after our virtual event last October we are going to build on the successful format using a streamed ceremony with guests enjoying the experience in their own Zoom rooms. The awards can be streamed straight to your screens at the destination of your choice. We hope you are able to get together with colleagues, friends and family either virtually or physically (practising Government physical distancing guidelines of course) and enjoy the awards from your office, homes or venue of your choice.

8.00pm – Kevin Quantum, Magician & Illusionist
Prepare to be amazed during this 20-minute magic show from magician and illusionist, Kevin Quantum. Kevin was a 2020 Britain’s Got Talent finalist and is an Edinburgh Fringe Favourite and Guinness World Record holder.
8.30pm – Jacob Hawley, Comedian
We’ll finish off the night with a short set from comedian, writer and performer Jacob Hawley. Jacob is an Edinburgh Fringe favourite and has written and starred in many comedy shorts on BBC3.
8.50pm – Big Band Singing Group
Enjoy some upbeat songs from Edinburgh based production company, BBD Productions, straight from their sell-out run in the 2019 Fringe Festival and lockdown concerts over 2020 and 2021 in aid of Acting For Others.

JJ CHALMERS | OUR HOST
We are delighted to welcome JJ Chamers as our 2021 Host!
John-James Chalmers is a Scottish television presenter, public speaker and Invictus Games medallist from Scotland. He was injured in a bomb blast in Afghanistan in 2011, while serving as a Royal Marine.
JJ now has a successful Broadcasting career and has gone on to present The Anniversary Games, Superhumans, coverage of the IPC in Doha and National Paralympic Day all for C4. 2016 saw JJ return to The Invictus Games in the role of an Ambassador telling his story at the opening ceremony plus reporting and punditry for the BBC.
JJ is a Patron for Help For Heroes and an Ambassador for The Invictus Games. He travels the country giving inspirational talks and motivational workshops to schools and businesses. Most recently, he was on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Scientist-turned-magician Kevin was trained by the best magicians in the business - Penn and Teller. He has been a magician for ten years creating award winning productions at the biggest arts festival in the World - The Edinburgh Fringe, breaking a Guinness World Record and has consulted on numerous documentaries and movies for the BBC and others. 1000’s of live shows have taken him from five star Hotels in Dubai, The Hollywood Magic Castle in LA to Britain’s Got Talent 2020. As Artistic Director of MagicFest Kevin has, over six years, produced some of magic's most unique performance formats tht have allowed people from all over the world to enjoy a brand new, edgy experience.

BBD Productions are a young Edinburgh based production company who have been delighting audiences and receiving rave reviews with their performances. They enjoyed a sold out run in the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe (and hopefully one in 2021!) and have continued to entertain throughout the pandemic with their specially produced videos for Halloween, Christmas, Burn’s Night & Valentine’s Day all while raising money for charity. These shows were streamed live on YouTube and can still be viewed today.
Jacob Hawley is a London based stand-up comedian, writer and performer, as seen on BBC3 and heard on BBC Radio 4.
The rising star of the Edinburgh Fringe’ (New Statesman) is the presenter and creator of BBC Sounds’s Jacob Hawley: On Drugs. The podcast earned him an ARIA (Audio & Radio Industry Awards), 2020 Silver Award for Best New Presenter and Bronze for New Voice Award at the Audio Production Awards (APAs), sponsored by Audible. A second series Jacob Hawley: On Love has been commissioned by BBC Sounds.
Jacob is also the creator and star of BBC Radio 4’s Welcome to Britain, a solo show based on his critically acclaimed debut stand-up hour Howl, with a follow up based on his second, sell out Edinburgh show ‘Faliraki’ which will air in 2021.
Jacob has rapidly generated interest as one of the boldest new voices on the circuit with his astute observations and political passion. He is a firm Edinburgh Fringe favourite and his live shows have sold out at both The Edinburgh Fringe and at London’s Soho Theatre.
